Sunday School
Sunday 10:00 AM
At 10:00 AM, classes for all ages gather for a time of Biblical learning. This is a time when we meet in groups based on age, grade, or stage of life.
We have elementary and teen classes that meet in our children's ministry expansion. Adults gather in the sanctuary for fellowship and Bible study.
Sunday School classes last approximately 45 minutes.
Worship Service
Sunday 10:45 AM
Around 10:45 AM on Sunday, our Sunday school classes dismiss and everyone gathers in the sanctuary for Worship Service. Our praise team begins to lead our congregation in singing and praise for our worship service. The worship set is followed by a message delivered by our pastor or a guest minister. Following the message, an opportunity is provided to respond to the preached Word of God with an invitation to the altar - for prayer, praise, worship, repentance, and an encounter with God!
Wednesday Bible Study and Children's Church
Wednesday 6:45 PM
At 6:45 PM on Wednesday, our church family gathers for mid-week Bible study in the sanctuary. After a brief welcome to the service, children are invited to the expansion for children's church lead by our pastor's wife, Sister Summer Kill, and her team.
Frequently Asked Questions
This will be my first time to a Pentecostal church. What should I expect?
If it's your first time here, our promise is to make your visit the best it can be! We don't ask our guests to stand up or announce themselves. We understand that a visit to a new church can be a lot to take in. Come in, enjoy the worship and preaching, and decide for yourself if this is the church for you.
What are your Sunday services like?
Services at First UPC of Quitman are vibrant, multicultural, and multigenerational with exciting worship and a powerful message from the Word of God.
We believe that the Presence of God (also called the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit) is with us in our services. As such, we may raise our hands, sing joyfully, dance like David (2 Samuel 6:14), lift our voices in praise and worship, clap our hands in celebration, shout with a voice of triumph (Psalm 47:1), and otherwise offer exuberant worship to Jesus Christ - after all, He is worthy of all of our praise!
What should I wear to attend your services?
You'll find everything from suits and ties and Sunday best to more casual and comfortable like jeans and polos. Come in what is comfortable for you, we look forward to seeing you.
While most of the ladies at our church wear skirts, we don't want any ladies to feel discouraged from worshipping with us if you do not wear skirts. Everyone is always welcome.
And to answer that *other* question.... no we aren't THOSE type of Pentecostals! :)
We seek to help you become a Spirit-filled and Spirit-lead disciple of Jesus Christ!
